7digital What we said: Taking the title from her real name – which in turn was borrowed from the Hindu goddess of knowledge and music – Matangi is MIA’s first full-length release since 2010’s typographical nightmare /\/\ /\ Y /\. In the interim she’s treated us to a controversial collaboration with Madonna, the excellently-titled mixtape Vicki Leex and ‘Bad Girls’, AKA one of the best singles of 2012. Wisely, she’s included the latter here, along with the Switch/Surkin-produced, Bhangra-referencing banger ‘Bring The Noize’. Elsewhere you can expect not one but two collaborations with The Weeknd, plus enough auditory evidence to argue she’s still one of our most outspoken and innovative musical exports.
