7digital What we said: Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon describes her fourth album as, “the sound of the ‘accidentally on purpose’ coming together... in an environment that furnished and fuelled the abandonment we felt effortlessly.” The statement might seem vague, but it’s a pretty accurate summary. Recorded in Le Bon’s adoptive home of L.A. with long-time collaborators H. Hawkline and Sweet Baboo – and Mug Museum-producer Josiah Steinbrick – Crab Day is characterised by a sense of freewheeling spontaneity. Lurking beneath dancing xylophones, erratic horns and surreal lyrics, however, you’ll find a set of sharp pop melodies, loosely rooted in post-punk.
