7digital What we said: What with the relentless touring and high-profile press commitments, we’re surprised Jake Bugg’s found time to draw breath in the past year, let alone draw enough ideas together for a new LP. And yet, here’s second album Shangri-La, which arrives almost exactly 12 months after his first. Thanks to über-producer Rick Rubin, Bugg’s punkier compositions have more bite to them now, most notably on the Arctic Monkeys-aping ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’ and indie-rock romp ‘Slumville Sunrise’. His ramshackle Dylan-isms have been leant some production polish too, resulting in FM-friendly weepies like ‘A Song About Love’ and ‘Storm Passes Away’.
