7digital What we said: Ah, the concept album: a terrifying vehicle for self-indulgent axe-work, 15-minute organ opuses and the entire cast of a Terry Pratchett novel, or an unfairly maligned art-form? If you’re of the former persuasion, we suggest you think on Tennis’ first album more as a musical travel diary. Charting the seven months this married couple spent touring the North Atlantic coastline in a Cape Dory yacht, their debut is filled with befittingly care-free blasts of indie-pop. From the gorgeous surf-guitar and finger-clicks of ‘Marathon’ to the bass-driven, tambourine shuffle of ‘Baltimore’, Alaina Moore’s shimmering vocals swell over undulating waves of sepia-tinged dreaminess. Not only does the whole thing sound as sun-drenched as their extended, nautical sojourn but there’s not a single ork in sight.
